This equipment is designed to unwind coils. It consists of two expandable chucks backed on a structure that turns 180º around a vertical tower.
The chuck remains in line with the machine during operation, while the coil is carried in the other chuck on the rear part through a crane.
The two work positions are mechanically locked through the activation of a pneumatic cylinder.
The basic expansion covers a 430 to 540 mm diameter range. For larger diameters, the clips were designed to receive wedges.
The chuck axle operates on roller bearings and has a water-cooled hydro-pneumatic brake on its end to ensure the required tension for unwinding and emergency stops.
For coil start feeding, the brake is relieved.
